All Saints’ Day Holiday in Egypt: Your Warm-Weather Escape Guide

Is the All Saints’ Day holiday finally your excuse to leave the grey skies behind? Egypt stays warm in early November, and the dates line up well. Here is how to plan it.

When Is the All Saints’ Day Holiday in 2026, and Who Gets Time Off?

All Saints’ Day falls on Sunday, 1 November 2026. It is a public holiday across much of Europe. Because it lands on a Sunday, there is no bridge day this year.

That makes the school break your real opening. French families have the Toussaint holiday from around 17 October to 2 November 2026. Check the exact dates for your zone on the official French school calendar.

Country or region Status in 2026
Date Sunday, 1 November 2026
France Public holiday; school break from about 17 October to 2 November
Germany Public holiday in Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland
Austria, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland Public holiday
Egypt Not a national public holiday

Here is a simple trick. Take Monday 2 to Friday 6 November off. You get nine days away, from Saturday 31 October to Sunday 8 November.

Why Does Early November Suit a Trip to Egypt?

The heat has gone, and the biggest crowds have not arrived yet. November marks the start of Egypt’s busy season, but December and January are busier.

Typical daytime and night-time figures look like this:

  • Cairo: about 25–27°C by day and 15–18°C at night.
  • Luxor: about 28°C by day.
  • Aswan: around 29°C by day.
  • Red Sea: sea water near 25°C.

These are typical figures, not promises. Weather changes from year to year. For the full month-by-month picture, read our guide to the best time of year to visit Egypt.

Candles at Dawn, Temples by Noon: A Holiday Only Egypt Can Offer

In Egypt, you can do both in one day. Light a candle in an old Christian quarter in the morning. Stand inside a pharaonic temple by lunchtime.

Here is a one-day Cairo plan that works:

  1. Start in Coptic Cairo when the churches open.
  2. Walk the narrow lanes slowly and step inside one or two churches.
  3. Head to Giza for the pyramids in the softer afternoon light.

Our guides to Coptic Cairo and the Hanging Church cover the history, so we skip it here.

Field tip: these churches are active places of worship. Visit outside service times. Cover your shoulders and knees. Keep your voice low.

Prefer Upper Egypt? Reach Karnak at opening time. The stone is cool, and the courtyards are quiet.

What Is New at the Grand Egyptian Museum This Autumn?

The Grand Egyptian Museum marks one year since its official opening on 1 November 2025. That is the same date as All Saints’ Day.

Its halls hold around 100,000 artefacts. Tutankhamun’s complete collection is displayed together for the first time since its discovery. It is the largest archaeological museum dedicated to a single civilisation.

We have not confirmed any anniversary programme. Check the museum’s news before you go. Book your slot early in holiday weeks. Our Grand Egyptian Museum tour guide explains what to see first.

Which Egypt Route Fits a 5, 7 or 10-Day Break?

Match the route to your days off. Here is a quick guide.

Your break Route idea
4–5 days Cairo and Giza, plus a short flight to Luxor
7 days Cairo, then a 3-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor
9–10 days Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and a few beach days in Hurghada
Beach first Hurghada, with day trips when you want the pyramids

Short break: keep it simple

Pick two bases at most. Fewer hotel changes mean more time at the sites.

Longer break: let the river do the travelling

A cruise unpacks once and moves you between temples while you sleep. Ready to sail the river of the gods? See our 3-night Aswan to Luxor Nile cruise and book your dates today.

Can You Add Beach Days After the Sightseeing?

Yes. The Red Sea is still near 25°C in early November, so a few days in Hurghada work well.

Base yourself by the sea. Join a Hurghada to Cairo day trip when you want the pyramids. Or start from the coast and board a Nile cruise from Hurghada.

How Do You Plan the All Saints’ Day Holiday Without Stress?

Book early and keep the plan light. These tips help:

  • Book hotels and cruise cabins early. November starts the high-season pricing.
  • Travel before December, when crowds and prices climb higher.
  • Pack light layers. Evenings cool down, especially on a Nile deck.
  • Dress modestly for churches and mosques.
  • Ask for a private guide at the busiest sites.

Quick Answers Before You Book

Does the All Saints’ Day holiday create a long weekend in 2026?

Not by itself. 1 November 2026 is a Sunday, so there is no bridge day. French school families can use the Toussaint break. Others can take leave from Monday 2 November.

Are Egyptian sites open on All Saints’ Day?

Generally, yes. Egypt does not treat 1 November as a national public holiday. Opening hours can change, so we confirm them when we build your itinerary.

Is the sea warm enough for swimming during the All Saints’ Day holiday?

Usually, yes. The Red Sea sits around 25°C in November. Evenings feel cooler, so bring a light layer.

Should I book early for an All Saints’ Day holiday trip to Egypt?

Yes. November opens the busy season, and hotel prices rise. Booking early gives you a better choice of cruise cabins and guides.
